The Greater Indianapolis Literacy League, DBA "Indy Reads" is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our Tax ID # is 31-1227489. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Indy Reads is an independent, non-profit organization. We receive no direct government funding. Through individual donors, corporate contributions, and grants, Indy Reads is able to provide free literacy services to adults in Central Indiana who read at or below a sixth-grade level.

Indy Reads is a great investment. For every $1 invested in teach an adult to read, $33 are returned back to the community through increased wages and savings. Adults who can't read cost the community an estimated $20,000 a year in public assistance, health care, and incarceration costs.

And yet, it only costs Indy Reads $500 per year to help an adult learn to read.
